LOS ANGELES – The LMU baseball team is thrilled to announce the early signing class of commits for the 2025-2026 school year to compete in the 2026 baseball season. The Lions signed 12 players from all over the country to bolster the Lions' race towards another WCC title and NCAA Tournament berth.

Head coach Donegal Fergus has mentioned that one of the goals of the current iteration of Lions' baseball is to build a deep stock of 'two-way' players – that is athletes that can play in the field and pitch. The 2024 class had a handful of two-way athletes, with the 2025 class adding three more.

2025 Early Signing Class Overview (All quotes are from Fergus)

Eric Erdmann – P/1B – "Eric is a great example of what we're looking for in today's competitive recruiting market and staking our claim to Two-Way U. [Eric is a] legit two-way force who has a chance to impact us on both sides of the ball right away. Low 90's Fb on the mound and massive raw power at the plate."

Travis Friend – OF – "Plus runner, with elite defensive skills in CF. Power potential at the plate, and a high-level performer. This kid is a future Top 5 rounder."

Alex Gamboa – UTL – "Lefty bat who is an absolute force on the field. Can play all over the diamond but is a total wrecking ball offensively. Another player whose toughness bursts out at you when you watch him. No. 7 ranked OF in Arizona."

Andrew Mhoon – INF – "No. 1 ranked infielder in the state of Oregon for 2025. Twitchy athlete with elite bat speed and toughness. The kind of kid who immediately makes your locker room better because of his tenacity and intensity."

Garrett Mirel – P – "Long, projectable frame and a loose arm. Changeup is already a weapon, and the FB velocity has shown flashes of being a future power left hander."

Jordan Ortiz – C – "No. 8 ranked catcher in the state of California. Long levers and a huge arm behind the plate, Jordan is a no-doubt future pro. An Area Code selection and plays at one of the best HS programs in the state. He's right now the best defensive catcher in his class on the west coast."

Elias Reyes – P – "Loose, athletic mover with real life on the fastball. Up to 91 with plus secondary stuff, Elias is the kind of athlete we want on the mound."

Daniel Rivera – P/OF – "Another two-way talent, this competitive lefty has the makeup and tools to be an instant impact player, despite his size."

Maxwell Schneider – P – "Small school arm who has massive upside. Already up to 97 this summer and much more to come. Big body and good athlete. Incredible learner as well."

Bryson Toner – P – "No. 2 ranked pitcher in Hawaii. Silky smooth mover with massive upside. Effortless low 90's FB and power slider. Future pro."

Kaleb Wing – SS/P – "One of the fastest risers on the west coast on the mound, he is also one of the best defensive SS in the west. Another in our new line here at two-way U. Up to 94 on the mound and could play SS for us today."

The Lions will begin their 2025 season with a five-game homestand. Three opening weekend games against Seattle before hosting a pair of Big West schools in Cal Poly and Long Beach State. The opening homestand will take place from Feb. 14 to Feb. 19 at Page Stadium and all home games for the 2025 season will be available to stream on ESPN+.
