Lions Have Historic Night Against Big Green

LOS ANGELES – The Lions baseball team scored the most runs against Dartmouth since June 1865 in a 28-4 rout on Friday night at Page Stadium.

The Lions scored six runs in the second inning and 12 more in the third to put the game well out of reach. They then added on in every inning until they failed to score in the eighth inning.

Brendan Bobo had a stellar showing against the Big Green in game two of the four game set. He launched his sixth homerun of the year in the six-run second inning. He drove a ball down the line over the blue monster, a truly majestic opposite field homerun. He added two doubles, a single and walked twice. He ended with six RBI and five runs scored.

Sam Biller also had quite the outing for the Lions. The junior recorded five hits and five RBI. After failing to reach in his first two plate appearances, Biller reeled off hits in five straight at bats. He notched an RBI double as part of the 12-run third inning, singled in the fourth, laced an RBI single through the right side in the fifth, singled in a run in the sixth, and recorded a two-RBI single in the seventh. He was lifted for a pinch hitter in the eighth.

Devan Ornelas had quite the performance out of the nine-hole as well. The center fielder has struggled for much of the 2024 season but may have finally broken out after recording three hits. Ornelas also scored four times, recorded four RBI and stole three bases.

Benny Casillas notched three hits, three RBI and scored three runs as well in the offensive onslaught.

The Lions got hits from 10 different players, runs from 12 different players and RBI from 8 different sources.

On the pitching side, Owen Hackman gritted through five innings of work, most of which he had a massive lead for. The senior right-hander worked out of a couple jams, allowed only a pair of earned runs while striking out eight over five innings of work before turning it over to the bullpen.

The bullpen took over and allowed two runs over the remaining four innings. Tanner Warady notched his first collegiate strikeout in a perfect seventh inning.

The Lions still have two more games against Dartmouth. Saturday's first pitch is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. (PT)
