DALLAS, Texas – LMU men's golf shot 12-under par to open the Trinity Forest Invitational on Sunday. The Lions 276 to sit three strokes back of leaders USC.
The Lions led all teams with a 4-under on Par 4 holes and shot even on Par 3s to put themselves in position to compete for the tournament title. LMU shot 8-under on Par 5s and finished with 23 total birdies.
All four Lions who scored for the team finished 2-under or better.
Trevor Algya led the way with a top 10 position at 4-under. Algya birdied four of his final five holes to close out the round.
Mason Snyder and
Alejandro Alonso each finished at 69 with a three-stroke under par day. Snyder recorded six birdies and Alonso added five of his own.
In his first tournament with the Lions,
Hogan Park started his day with a birdie on one and then finished 2-under for the day with five birdies.
Adam Miller shot even for the team with birdies on six and 13.
Competing as an individual,
Cade Anderson shot 1-under with three birdies.
The second round will begin Monday on both holes 10 and 1, with all five Lions competing for the team teeing off from 1 and
Cade Anderson beginning his day on 10. All players will play 18 holes. Tee times begin at 8:55 AM central time.
