SAN MATEO – Junior right-hander Owen Hackman has been named the West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week after a dominant performance on Saturday against Portland.  

Hackman hurled a complete game, while scattering six hits and striking out three. He only needed 94 pitches to throw nine innings, demonstrating the efficiency of his outing.  

Hackman has been a little up-and-down this season, but when he is good, he is excellent.  

Against Vanderbilt, the junior went six innings, allowed two runs on six hits and struck out five.  

Against San Francisco, he went 7.2 innings, allowing one run on four hits and struck out six.  

With this outing, his ERA dropped almost an entire point from 5.17 to 4.24.  

This is the third selection of the season for Lions pitchers. Zach Kirby was selected in the opening week of the season and Merrick Baldo was selected in the second week.  

The Lions play five times this week, starting with a pair of games against UNLV. First pitches are scheduled for 6:05 p.m. (PT) on Monday, Apr. 10 and 2:05 p.m. (PT) on Tuesday, Apr. 11.
