WESTWOOD, CA – The Loyola Marymount University Lions men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival over the weekend in a variety of events including the 5000m, 3000m steeplechase, and mile.

The Lion women ran in the 5000m and
Trinity Tingey, fresh off her 12th place finish at the Willie Williams Classic improved on her time and placed 7th when she crossed the line at 19:32.51. Tingey will look to shave more time off her finish next weekend at the Stanford Invitational and West Coast Relays.

In the men's 5000m the Lions had four top 20 finishers in
Zach Arias,
Adam Trafecanty,
Hunter Krasa, and
Jacob Villegas. Arias, the first Lion to cross the finish line, put together a time of 15:49.74 for 13th place and was quickly followed by Trafecanty at 15:49.99 for 14th.Â

Krasa was the next Lion to finish the 5000m in 15th place with a time of 15:50.27 while Villegas crossed at 15:54.80 for 17th overall.

The men's 3000m steeplechase crown was taken by the Lions
Cooper McCarthy. His winning time of 9:17.51 was the second straight meet where the Lion men took home first in the event as
Estanis Ruiz won at the Willie Williams Classic.Â

McCarthy's time ranks him 5
th on the LMU all-time list.
Daniel Vaca finished the event at 9:39.41, giving LMU to finishers in the top six. Vaca's time ranks him 8
th on the LMU all-time list.

The Lions move on to a very busy weekend to begin the month of April with both teams competing at the Stanford Invitational then splitting up with the men participating at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic and the at the West Coast Relays.
