LOS ANGELES – LMU Men's Basketball and Head Coach
Stan Johnson got their guy on Wednesday's National Signing Day. The Lions signed coveted Southern California recruit Aaron McBride out of Centennial High School in Corona.
"Aaron epitomizes everything we want our program to be about," said Johnson. "He embodies the word selfless, and he is one of the most relentless players you will find in high school basketball. His will to win and his determination to find a way to impact winning is as good as I've seen in a long time. There's no doubt in my mind that we are getting one of the better players in the class. Aaron comes from a great family and an incredible high school program. He will make a huge difference in LMU basketball for a long time. Today is a great day to be a Lion."
The 6'7 McBride is well received from those who cover high school basketball and recruiting. On3 released the latest update of its
2023 On3 150 on Monday, and placed McBride at 146 nationally, 31 at his position, and 24 in the state. ESPN.com has ranked McBride as a four-star recruit and gave him rankings of 26
th in his position and 16
th in the state.
A proven winner, McBride's AAU Team WhyNot won the 16U EYBL Peach Jam championship in 2021. As a sophomore and junior at Centennial, he took home a pair of CIF Southern Section Open Division Championships and helped lead Centennial to the 2022 CIF Open Division State Championship, the first one in school history. McBride is prepped for his senior season with the Huskies, with games beginning next week.
