PULLMAN, WA – The LMU women's basketball team took a tough lost against the Washington State Cougars Monday afternoon.
The Lions came out strong in the beginning of the first quarter.
Ariel Johnson led the team with six points going 2-4 from the field goals and 2-2 in free throws.
Even though the Lions went 5-19, LMU was only down by six at the end of the quarter, 13-19.
Shooting wasn't going too well in the second quarter for the Lions. LMU shot 18.75% while WSU shot 52.94%.
WSU scored 22 points in the quarter extending the lead by 20 for the Cougars, 41-21.
In the third quarter the Lions shot 6-18 which was an improvement from the previous quarter.
Nicole Rodriguez had a steal that led to a fast break jumper by
Alexis Mark that put the Lions two points closer to WSU.
LMU had eight points in the paint this quarter thanks to
Alexis Mark,
Khari Clark,
Noelle Yancy, Allmond, Rodriguez and Johnson.
The Cougars would shoot 69.23% from the field goal compared to the Lions 33.33%. WSU would lead LMU, 67-34, at the end of the quarter.
In the fourth, WSU scored 11 points off LMU turnovers and 14 in the paint. Allmond would lead the Lions with five points and one steal in the fourth quarter. Even though the Lions played hard, the Cougars would win the game, 93-41.
The Lions next game will be Nov. 11 against Cal State San Marcos in Gersten Pavilion.
