Heidger and Hernandez Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors for LMU Women’s Basketball

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Loyola Marymount University women's basketball was recognized for its excellence both on the court and in the classroom, as senior Carly Heidger and junior Maya Hernandez were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the organization announced this week.

The CSC Academic All-District honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and academically, highlighting individuals who excel in competition while maintaining strong academic standing. LMU was one of several programs in the West Coast Conference to place multiple student-athletes on the list, as the Lions secured two of the conference's women's basketball selections.

Heidger and Hernandez were instrumental in one of the most historic seasons in program history, helping lead the Lions to a West Coast Conference Regular Season Championship while setting a new standard on the Bluff.

Hernandez put together an outstanding all-around campaign, starting 30 of 31 games while leading the team with 441 total points and adding 167 rebounds, 47 assists, 53 steals, and 23 blocks. She earned All-WCC First Team honors and was also recognized on the All-WCC All-Academic Team, underscoring her impact on both ends of the floor and in the classroom.

Heidger started all 31 games for the Lions, providing consistency and leadership throughout the season. She finished the year with 244 total points, 90 rebounds, 37 assists, and 33 steals. Also for her efforts academically, Heidger was named to the All-WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention list.

Their recognition reflects LMU's continued commitment to developing well-rounded student-athletes who thrive in all aspects of the collegiate experience. The duo now joins an elite group of student-athletes across the country honored for their dedication to academic and athletic excellence.

The CSC Academic All-District selections advance in consideration for the CSC Academic All-America Team, with national honorees set to be announced April 15th.

With this latest accolade, LMU Women's Basketball continues to build on a season defined not only by championship success, but also by excellence beyond the court.
