LOS ANGELES – Loyola Marymount Athletics will be holding in person tryouts for their cheer and dance teams for the 2021-22 season. Tryouts for the cheer team will take place on Monday, August 16th from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. and dance team auditions will be on Tuesday, August 17th from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Head Coach Nicole Martin is seeking friendly, coachable and dedicated athletes to represent the university as ambassadors of the Spirit program. The tryout fee is $30 and non-refundable.
 
If you are trying out for the cheer team, it is recommended you have your back handspring and progressing to a back tuck. Flyers are expected to execute all single leg stunts. Bases and Backspots must be able to base and backspot these skills at a minimum.
 
During the school year, the cheer and dance team will hold morning practices three times per week as well as weights twice a week.

Members of the LMU Spirit Squad are expected to attend all home men's and women's basketball games, select volleyball and baseball games, and various community and university events. A select group from each team will travel to the West Coast Conference Tournament in Las Vegas.
