LOS ANGELES – The West Coast Conference announced on Friday that two Loyola Marymount University softball players were named to the 2021 WCC Softball All-Academic First Team, while four were named Honorable Mention.
No fewer than 34 softball student athletes qualified for the academic honors, while only 20 of them posted a GPA of at least 3.50.
Megan Dedrick and
Allisha Martinez earned First Team recognition. Dedrick, a very versatile player, posted a 15 RBIs, a 2.52 batting average and had 88 putouts on the season. The Lions' shortstop earned a 3.48 GPA and earned her degree in educational studies.
Martinez went .222 at the plate on the season and collected 14 RBIs. A utility player, Martinez earned a 3.55 GPA and is earning her degree in law.
