Lions Head North to Face Gaels

LOS ANGELES – The Loyola Marymount University Lions (16-27, 9-12 WCC) look for their third-straight West Coast Conference series win when they travel to Moraga, California and play Saint Mary's for a three-game set this weekend.

The Lions are coming off a midweek game against UCLA and return to WCC competition when they visit Louis Guisto Field for the first time since 2019.

LMU has won seven of their past 10 meetings against the Gaels, including taking both games over Saint Mary's in the 2019 WCC Championship Tournament en route to claiming the conference title and trip to the NCAAs.

Alec Cargin heads into the weekend as the Lions and conference leader in triples with three as well as pacing LMU in slugging percentage at .448, homeruns with five, and RBIs at 27.

The duo of Julian Bury and Kenny Oyama continue their blistering 2021 campaign with being in the top five on the team in batting average, slugging percentage, on base percentage, runs, hits, RBIs, and stolen bases.

On the mound, the Lions have been getting solid production from their bullpen led by Holden Christian and Adam Christopher. Christian paces LMU in ERA at 0.81 while Christopher has struck out 26 batters in 28 innings pitched. The pair also is in the Lions top five in appearances and games in relief.
