Lions Set to Face Pepperdine

LOS ANGELES – The Loyola Marymount University Lions (12-22, 5-10 WCC) head up the coast to face West Coast Conference foe Pepperdine for a three-game series starting Friday afternoon.

The Lions will look for their third series win in four chances against the Waves when they step onto Eddy D. Field Stadium this weekend.

LMU will go for their third series win against WCC competition and put together an impressive come from behind victory over Portland last Friday when they scored one in the eighth to tie the game and three in the ninth to seal the win. The Lions will look to carry that momentum into the series this weekend.

Kenny Oyama continues to be an offensive threat whenever he's in the batter's box. He bumped up his team-leading batting average to .351 and leads the Lions in on base percentage at .427. Oyama is also the team leader in runs scored with 19, hits at 46, and doubles with 10.

On the mound the Lions have been getting solid starts from their weekend rotation and the bullpen has put up impressive outings. Holden Christian has been nearly unhittable in his 24 innings pitched, sporting an ERA of 0.00 and is holding opposing batters to an average of .091.

Another Lion putting together solid appearances on the bump is Diego Barrera. He had a pair of relief appearances against San Francisco and Portland and struck out a total of seven batters in 3 1/3 innings of work over the Dons and Pilots. He's also coming off a strong start against USC where he threw four innings of three hit baseball with a pair of strikeouts while surrendering just one run.

The entire series against the Waves will be streamed live with links to the broadcasts available on the baseball schedule page at lmulions.com.
