Men's Basketball

Pair of Transfers Sign to Join Men’s Basketball Roster for 2021-22

LOS ANGELES – Coach Stan Johnson has elevated his already strong recruiting class and roster with the addition of two transfer student-athletes. The Lions have added Kwane Marble II, a 6-6, 195-pound guard from Denver, Colo., by way of the University of Wyoming and Cam Shelton, a 6-2, 175-pound guard from Chino, Calif., by way of Northern Arizona University.

Marble played two seasons at Wyoming, including under LMU Assistant Coach Allen Edwards in his first year. Following his true freshman campaign, which culminated with an inclusion on the 2020 Mountain West All-Tournament Team after averaging 19.7 points per game in the tournament, Marble increased his production in 2020-21. The Denver native's scoring improved as a sophomore, and resulted in earning a start in 12 of 14 games to close the season. Marble hit double-digit scoring nine times this season and recorded a 12 point and 12 rebound double-double against New Mexico on Feb. 17. Marble will have three seasons of eligibility to play.

"I chose LMU because I felt that I would be a good fit in coach Johnson's philosophy," said Marble. "From speaking with the coaching staff, I felt a connection and that I would be a welcomed member into the family."

"Kwane is a high-level perimeter player that will impact the game for us with his size and versatility on both ends of the floor," said Johnson. "His ability to score and make plays for his teammates in the half court and in transition gives us an added Dimension we did not have a year ago. He is someone who embraces late game pressure and has all the characteristics of a winner. We are excited to have him and his family be a part of us."

Shelton is coming off an all-conference season in his junior year at NAU. The First Team All-Big Sky and NABC All-District Second Team performer averaged 19.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.5 steals per game this past season. Along with leading the Big West Conference in scoring and finishing in the top-40 nationally in points per game, Shelton Led the Lumberjacks in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals after starting all 22 game in 2020-21. An 1,000-point scorer at NAU, Shelton scored 20 or more points in 13 games last season. Shelton will have two seasons of eligibility to play.

"I came to LMU to play for a team that has a chance to 'restore the roar' of the Hank Gathers and Bo Kimble era," said Shelton. "I believe that the team that Coach Stan is putting together can reinvigorate that energy to get back on the national map."

"Cam has been one of the elite players in the Big Sky conference over the last couple years," said Johnson. His ability to score and create instantly improves our perimeter play. He's the ultimate competitor who will help raise the competitive spirit of our program. There's no doubt LMU fans are going to love having him on our team. Cam comes from a tremendous family who we are excited to lock arms with. We can't wait to coach him."

LMU is already coming off a season which Johnson led the team to the best final NET Ranking in over 30 years and propelled the Lions to a top-three record in the West Coast Conference.
