Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

LMU’s Exhibition Slate Comes to Close, Turn Page to Regular Season

LOS ANGELES – The Lions had two opportunities against strong opponents in the exhibition portion of the schedule to see how the new members of the team will play together against another opponent. LMU's second exhibition ended in a 72-67 defeat, but featured four players in double-digits and a double-digit lead for a portion of the game.

With the game tied at 4-apiece, UC Santa Barbara used a 7-0 run to take an early lead. The Lions responded with a 7-0 run of their own to retake the lead following back-to-back layups by Aaron McBride and a triple off the hands of Christian Humphrey-Rembert.

Former Gaucho, Zion Sensley, hit threes on consecutive trips down the court against his former team, each time giving the Lions a two-point lead with under nine minutes to play in the half.

The Lions outscored UCSB by 14 over the final 13 minutes of the half to take a 42-33 lead at intermission.

A 12-1 run by the visitors erased a double-digit LMU second half lead and pushed UC Santa Barbara ahead by three. All Wright knocked down a second-chance triple off a McBride offensive rebound to tie the score at 54-all with 10:10 to play in regulation.

The Lions scored five points over the final 10-plus minutes thanks to the team's first half shooting percentage of 50 percent from the field drop to 9-for-27 over the final 20 minutes of the game.

Four players finished in double-digit scoring for LMU, led by a 13-point trio from Jevon Porter, Sensley, and Wright. Porter added 10 rebounds for a double-double in the exhibition. Mazi Mosley added a dozen.

LMU's season will officially begin on Nov. 4, as the Lions host Queen's University at home.
