LOS ANGELES – The LMU men's basketball program will enter a three-game stretch over the next five game with games in three different cities. This week's competition begins in Santa Clara on Tuesday, to face the Broncos (9-4, 3-2 WCC) in a race to win 10 games on the season first.
The Lions (9-6, 4-3 WCC) have played well over the team's last two games, shooting over 55 percent from the field and averaging 77.5 points per game. LMU has outscored both Portland and Pacific by 14.5 points and outrebounded those two by 13.5 in the two wins.
A key to the success over those two wins is not only the hot shooting, but the balance of scoring. Six players are averaging between 8.5 and 15.5 points per game over the last two wins, including four averaging double-digits.
Eli Scott, the WCC's sixth leading scorer at 16.6 points per game and top rebounder at 8.53 boards per game, is approaching another major milestone. The senior has grabbed 697 career rebounds, and is quickly approaching top-10 in that category. Only 10 Lions have grabbed over 700 rebounds in an LMU uniform, and Scott needs to hit 708 to stand alone in the top-10, after already breaking into the top-10 in career assists earlier in this season.
Scott, already the only Lion in school history with 1,000 points, 600 rebounds, and 300 assists, would sits at 1,352 points, 697 rebounds, and 334 assists.
The game will air on WCC Network from the Leavey Center at 6:00 p.m. As always, the game will be available to the radio audience on KXLU 88.9 FM.
The Lions will then play at San Francisco on Thursday night before turning back around and coming home to host BYU on Saturday for a noon game.
