LOS ANGELES – LMU men's basketball used an 18-0 run over a 6:13 span late in the second half to completely shift the outcome of Saturday's game. The Lions (1-1) picked up their first win of the season, topping Arizona Christian, 74-67.
Arizona Christian led by 10 with 10 minutes to play and by eight with 7:52 on the clock before back-to-back layups by
Eli Scott started an 18-0 run. Scott scored 14 of his 18 points in the second half and hit six of eight field goals after intermission.
Joe Quintana then came down the court and buried one of his six three pointers to extend the run and finish with a career-high 26 points. Quintana equaled his most made threes mark that he set in last year's win over Long Beach State.
The run closed with four free throws from
Cam Shelton.
The final six LMU points were scored from Quintana to hit and surpass his career-best in scoring.
LMU improved from shooting 34.6 percent to shooting 65.0 percent (13-for-20) to finish at 47.8 percent for the game. However, the Lions did hit seven of the team's 10 threes in the first half.
LMU will return to close out the home stand on Wednesday, hosting Little Rock.
