Biography

BRIEFLY… Cam Shelton enters his second season at LMU in 2022-23 after transferring in from Northern Arizona University… All-Big Sky First Team and NABC All-District 6 Second Team in 2021… All-WCC First Team, NABC All-District First Team, USBWA All-District First Team, and Lou Henson Award National Player of the Year Finalist in 2023.
 
IN 2022-23 • GRADUATE SENIOR…  One of only two players to start all 31 games for the Lions… Led the WCC in scoring at 21.4 ppg and raised his number to 23.3 ppg in conference games… Ranked 13th nationally in scoring… Third in the WCC in assists per game at 4.3, steals per game at 1.84, and field goal percentage at 49.1 percent… Ranked second in the WCC in minutes per game at 35:34… Scored a career-high 40 points to help LMU complete a comeback and defeat Pacific (2/25/23) on Senior Day… Led the WCC with four games of 30 or more points… Scored his first 30-plus point game in LMU’s home win over No. 15 Saint Mary’s (2/9/23) with all 31 points coming in the second half and overtime… Scored the game-winning basket to finish with 27 points in LMU’s road win at No. 6 Gonzaga (1/19/23) to end the 75-game home winning streak for the Zags… Scored 32 points in the final regular season game to help LMU defeat Pepperdine (2/25/23) in Malibu and clinch fourth-place in the WCC and a double-round bye in the conference tournament… Recorded a double-double in the win over Tulsa (12/21/22) with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists… Recorded a double-double in the win over Portland (12/29/22) with 15 points, 12 assists, and nine rebounds… Helped lead LMU to the Jamaica Classic Tournament Title with 10 points against Georgetown (11/18/22) and 20 points against Wake Forest (11/20/22), including the game-tying three to force overtime, to earn All-Tournament team honors… First Team All-WCC… First Team WCC All-Academic… Three-time WCC Player of the Week… NABC Division I All-District First Team… USBWA All-District Team… Lou Henson National Player of the Year Finalist… Lou Henson National Player of the Week.
 
IN 2021-22 • SENIOR…  Played all 29 games, earning 27 starts on the season… One of only three Lions to play over 30 minutes a night with his 31.3 minutes per game and over 900 minutes on the season… Averaged 8.4 points per game… Second on the team at 2.3 assists per game… Scored in double-figures 11 times, including over half of his conference games… Had a stretch in WCC action with four consecutive double-digit scoring games (2/10/22-2/19/22)… Dished out a season-high eight assists against Grand Canyon (11/29/21)… Grabbed a season-high eight rebounds in the win over Portland (1/17/21)… Went a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line in the win over Prairie View A&M.

Only player to start all 22 games and one of three players to play all 22 games... Voted one of four team captains... Averaged 19.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.5 steals per game... Led the Big Sky, and ranked 37th in the country, in scoring... Led the team in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals...Recorded double-digit points in 19 of 22 games... Posted 13 games with at least 20 points, including eight straight from Dec. 19-Jan. 9... Scored career-high 30 points at Idaho.... Posted 20 points and nine rebounds at No. 1 Gonzaga... Became the 30th player in program history to score 1,000 career points vs. Montana State... Shot .420 from the field, .347 behind the arc and .717 at the free throw line... Ranked 39th in the country with 109 free throws made... Recorded eight or more rebounds in four games with a career-high tying 10 rebounds at Montana in lone double-double of the season... Posted five or more assists in 11 games... Tied career-high with nine assists at Southern Utah... Totaled multiple steals in seven games with season-high four steals twice... IN 2020-21 • SOPHOMORE: All-Big Sky Third Team... Only player to start all 30 games and one of three players to play all 30 games... Averaged 14.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.5 steals per game... One of two players to rank in the top 10 of the Big Sky in all four categories...  Ranked 95th in the country in assists per game... Led the team in scoring, assists and steals and ranked second in rebounding... Recorded double-digit points in 25 of 30 games...Posted seven games with at least 20 points... Scored career-high 29 points on 9-for-15 shooting and made 10-of-13 free throws vs. Idaho... Made all 10 free throws in 26-point performance vs. Southern Utah...Also recorded 27 points at Portland State... Shot .397 from the field, .361 behind the arc and .726 at the free throw line... His 127 free throws made tied for seventh-most in a single season in program history and his 175 free throws attempted were eighth-most... Recorded eight or more rebounds in 12 games and three games with career-high 10 rebounds... Narrowly missed second triple-double in program history with 13 points, nine rebounds and career-high nine assists at Weber State... Posted five or more assists in 13 games... Totaled multiple steals in 14 games with career-high five steals at Idaho... Played 40 or more minutes in six games... Averaged 35.0 minutes per game, which ranked sixth in the Big Sky... IN 2018-19 • FRESHMAN: Appeared in 30 games with 25 starts... Averaged 8.0 points and 4.1 rebounds per game... Totaled 239 points marking the eighth-most by an NAU freshman in program history... Recorded 12 games with double-figure points...Ranked second on the team with 76 assists and 37 steals... Recorded 15 points, four rebounds and four assists in collegiate debut vs. Jacksonville... Matched season-high of 15 points at Portland State behind 9-for-12 effort at the free throw line... Posted 10 of 12 double-digit scoring games in conference play...Shot .386 from the field, .317 behind the arc and .743 at the free throw line... Grabbed at least four rebounds in 16 games... Hauled in season-high boards vs. Utah Valley... Handed out four or more assists in nine games including season-high six assists at San Jose State... High School: Played final two seasons of prep career at Damien High School in La Verne, Calif.... Broke school single-season scoring record in both junior (784) and senior (804) seasons... Averaged 26.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists in final prep season... Posted 22 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game during his junior campaign en route to being named the Most Outstanding Player Award for the San Gabriel Valley Area... Nabbed a school-record 105 steals as a junior... Transferred to Damien after two seasons at Chino Hills High School... Member of undefeated state championship team (35-0) in 2015-16... Was a teammate of the Ball brothers (Lonzo, LiAngelo and LaMelo) and Eli Scott at Chino Hills.

Personal: Born in Riverside, Calif.... Son of Lafayette and Kim Shelton... Has one younger sister, Kaitlyn... Father, Lafayette, played football at Long Beach State... Most memorable moment was scoring 42 points on his high school senior night.
