LMU LOOKS TO OPEN SEASON 8-0 AT HOME FOR JUST FOURTH TIME

LOS ANGELES – In his first season on the Bluff, LMU Head Coach Stan Johnson has his Lions undefeated at home, winning each of the team's first seven games at Gersten Pavilion. Since 1960, only the 1961-62, 1987-88, and 2018-19 teams have started the season with more home wins before or without a loss. The 1988 West Coast Conference Champions went 14-0 at home that season.

In order to keep the home streak alive, LMU (7-4, 2-1 WCC) will have to snap a 16-game skid to Saint Mary's (9-6, 0-3 WCC). The Lions last beat SMC in 2006, with LMU knocking off the then 16th-ranked Gaels in Moraga by 15 points.

Entering the game, the Lions will be coming off a Tuesday night overtime conference win over San Diego, whereas Saint Mary's has not played since Saturday. In contrast to Johnson's first year leading the Lions, Randy Bennett has been the head coach of Saint Mary's for 20 seasons.

Each team has outrebounded their opponents on the year. The Gaels are +7.29 on the glass and LMU is +5.7. Saint Mary's allows opponents to grab a conference-low 29.6 rebounds per game.

Much of the rebounding successes have come from Eli Scott and Dameane Douglas. Scott ranks tied for first in the WCC at 8.55 rebounds per game, and Douglas is fifth at 7.18.

In his senior season, Scott is the only player in the WCC to rank in the top 10 in points, rebounds, and assists. Scott is 10th in scoring at 15.5 points per game and ninth in assists at 3.5 helpers per game.

The game will be available to watch on Stadium and tip at 5:00 pm. As always, the game will be available to the radio audience on KXLU 88.9 FM.
