LOS ANGELES – The three-week pause from competition for both LMU and Pacific did not hinder the teams' successes in their return to play in opening the conference season. Both the Lions (6-3, 1-0 WCC) and the Tigers (4-1, 1-0 WCC) will put their win streaks to the test on Saturday for the 3:00 PM game, which will air across the coast on NBC Sports Bay Area, ROOT Sports NW, FOX Sports Prime Ticket, and FOX Sports San Diego, as well as FOX Sports Florida and Sun (Tampa, Jacksonville, Miami) and FOX Sports South (Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi).
LMU, winners of four-straight, and Pacific, winners of three-straight, hold two of the conference's three longest active win streaks, only behind top-ranked Gonzaga's 13 consecutive wins. Both the Lions and Pacific have performed in their home venues, with each team holding a perfect record on their home courts.
The Lions were carried in the conference opener by
Eli Scott's 17
th career double-double, which is eighth all-time in program history. The senior led the team across the board in last Sunday's win over the Dons, accounting for 20 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.
Scott is one of four Lions scoring in double-figures this season, a mark only one other WCC school has marked, with the Zags also carrying a quartet of double-digit scorers. Fellow starters
Dameane Douglas,
Keli Leaupepe, and
Joe Quintana are all shooting 45 percent or above from the field in their seasons to hit the 10-plus point per game average.
Pacific does feature former Lion
Jordan Bell, who put together a double-double in his conference-opener Thursday. In two seasons with LMU, Bell scored 309 points and grabbed 195 rebounds in his 63 career games as a Lion. This will be Bell's first time playing against the Lions since earning his degree on the Bluff last spring.
Live stats will be available through Pacific's website. LMU's radio coverage can be heard on KXLU 88.9 FM in Los Angeles or online.
