LOS ANGELES – Loyola Marymount University men's tennis players
Keenan Mayo and
Emin Torlic swept the WCC Men's Tennis Weekly Honors, as Mayo was named singles player of the week, and the duo of Torlic and Mayo were named doubles team of the week.
Newcomers Mayo and freshman Torlic won the first doubles match for the Lions, leading LMU to win the doubles point and then the match against San Diego State 6-1. Mayo and Torlic picked up a quick 6-2 win on court No. 2. This was the first time this season the doubles tandem paired up together.
Mayo held down the No. 1 spot for the Lions over the weekend and put the first singles point on the board for LMU as he beat his opponent 6-3 in the first set and then swept the second set 6-0. The transfer sophomore is 2-2 in singles play on the season.
Mayo, Torlic and the rest of the Lions have put together a 3-1 record, while going 2-0 in conference play. LMU will be back in action this week, as the team will take its first road trip of the season to San Luis Obispo to take on Cal Poly.
