LOS ANGELES – Coming off a 24-point win Friday night at home, the LMU men's basketball team (2-2) will play the first of two matchups this week against UC Santa Barbara (2-0). The Lions will first travel to the unbeaten Gauchos on Monday, then play the scheduled home game back on The Bluff on Saturday, Dec. 12.
Following an offensive showing on Friday to even the team's record at 2-2, LMU will play a UCSB team that is outscoring opponents by 54.0 points per game early in the season. Neither of the two Gaucho wins were played against Division I competition, so Monday's game will be a new test in The Thunderdome.
On Friday, LMU had two players hit double-digit rebounds in a single game for the first time since
Petr Herman and David Humphries did it against San Francisco in 2016.
Eli Scott grabbed 11 rebounds and
Ivan Alipiev added 10 to complete his double-double in the win.
The Lions have continued to show balance in the offensive attack, with five players averaging double figures and
Mattias Markusson nearly there at 9.8 points per game.
Eli Scott, who surpassed 600 career rebounds on Friday, is averaging a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards per game. After his 20-point career-high outburst over The Beach,
Joe Quintana leads the team averaging 13.5 points per game.
These two teams have a storied history, playing 86 times between 1924 and 2010, however have not played in a decade. UCSB has carried a four-game streak, after LMU won the previous three meetings in 2001, 2005, and 2006.
Monday's game will air on BigWest.tv and tip at 5 p.m. Live Stats will be run through Statbroadcast. Live audio can be heard on KXLU 88.9 FM.
