LOS ANGELES – LMU Men's Basketball Head Coach
Stan Johnson has announced the signing of Gary Harris, Jr. The 6'6 guard will be eligible to jump on the court for the Lions in 2021-22 after completing his transfer from Siena College in Loudonville, NY and playing his high school ball in Los Angeles at Frederick K.C. Price III Christian High.
"Gary is the type of person, student and player we want to build this program with," said Johnson. "He comes from a great family, was a part of two wining programs in high school and prep school and was a big part of Sienna's success last year as a freshman. Building our program with Los Angeles kids is important to us and Gary checks that box. Our ability to get old and stay old is critical to our success and the addition of Gary allows us to add experience to our team. He's an elite athlete with size that can play anywhere on the perimeter. His best days as a player are ahead of him. I'm excited we will get to see him reach his potential here at LMU. I'm elated to have Gary and his family be a part of our program. We got better."
As a freshman for the Saints, Harris started 14 of the final 15 games, and leading the team to a 13-2 record in those games. Harris scored in double-digits in four games and led all Siena freshmen in scoring (5.3), rebounding (2.7), and minutes (19.3), and ranked second overall on the team in blocks (19).
Prior to college, Harris was named First Team All-Prep Elite Conference after averaging 18 points and eight rebounds during 2018-19 season for Middlebrooks Academy. He played high school basketball at Frederick K.C. Price III Christian High, averaging 21.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 2.5 steals, and 1.4 blocks on his way to earning All-California Interscholastic and Team MVP acclaim during the 2017-18 season.
Harris departs Siena in good academic standing.
