SAN BRUNO, Calif. – LMU's Myron "MJ" Amey, Jr. has been named West Coast Conference Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. This is the first WCC Player of the Week honor for Amey this season and the first LMU athlete to win the award this season.
 
Amey, Jr. helped guide the Lions to a 6-0 record with his performance on the road at UC Santa Barbara. Amey scored a game-high 29 points to erase a 14-point second half deficit and force overtime and give the Lions a chance to win and remain undefeated. Amey scored 19 of his points in the second half after shooting 7-for-12 from the field and 4-for-5 from three. His overall game included 11-for-19 from the field (57.9 percent) and 6-for-7 from three (85.7 percent). His six made threes set a new career high. This season, no LMU player has made more shots or scored more points than Amey did against the Gauchos. Amey also grabbed five rebounds in his 37 minutes off the bench.
 
The Lions take on Florida Atlantic to open the Sunshine Slam later Monday evening. The game will air on CBS Sports Network at 8:30 PM ET / 5:30 PM PT.
