SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Following a stellar junior campaign, LMU's
Eli Scott has been named to the West Coast Conference's Preseason Men's Basketball Team. Scott was an All-WCC Second Team selection in 2019-20 after leading the Lions with 15.5 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists in a breakthrough junior season highlighted by the first triple-double in program history.
In addition to the 10-member preseason team, which is included below, the WCC announced the 2020-21 Preseason Men's Basketball Coaches Poll. Reigning conference-champion Gonzaga received nine of 10 first place votes from the league's head coaches to be picked as the early favorites. The remaining first place vote went to BYU.
Saint Mary's was tabbed third, with Pepperdine and San Francisco following at fourth and fifth, respectively. Santa Clara was picked to finish sixth with 38 total points, while LMU edged out Pacific for the seventh-place spot. San Diego then Portland round out the Top 10.
Conference games are scheduled to open across the WCC on Dec. 31, but LMU will open league play on Jan. 2 at Santa Clara. The Lions are slated to play 16 conference games this season, facing each team twice, with the exception of facing Gonzaga and BYU one time apiece.
