Entering his 22nd season at the helm of the Loyola Marymount men's and women's cross country and track & field teams, head coach Scott Guerrero announced the 2019 schedule. The Lions will compete in seven meets prior to hosting the West Coast Conference Championships on November 1st at Woodley Lakes Golf Course in Van Nuys, California.
 
"This year we're looking forward to hosting the West Coast Conference Championships for the first time ever and we expect a strong turnout from our local alumni and fans on Friday, November 1st in Van Nuys," said Guerrero.
 
The Lions open the season at Carbon Canyon Regional Park for the Mark Covert Classic in Brea, California hosted by Cal State Fullerton on Saturday, August 31st. The following week sees LMU compete in the Biola Invitational at Ted Craig Regional Park on Saturday, September 7th.
 
LMU will venture out of the state to participate in the WSU Cougar Classic, hosted by Washington State on Friday, September 13th. This meet will serve as an opportunity for the Lions to preview this year's West Regional course. The Lions close out the month of September at the Capital Cross Challenge at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex on the 28th
 
"The Regional meet in Colfax, Washington, we're planning on taking a small group up there in September for the WSU Cougar Classic to get a preview of the Regional course," said Guerrero.
 
The month of October sees the Lions participate in three meets with the first being the Vangaurd Invitational at Irvine Regional Park on Saturday, October 12th followed by the Bronco Invitational hosted by WCC rival Santa Clara at Baylands Park on Saturday, October 19th. The Lions will run a small squad at the Titan Invitational on Friday, October 25th.
 
"Our goal is to represent LMU at Nationals and to do so we need to get through one of the toughest Regions in the country," said Guerrero. "Last year at the Regional meet, Koby Pederson placed third and punched his ticket to Nationals, making him the first male in LMU history to qualify. We hope to be back at the big dance in 2019 for the third year in a row and can't wait to get this season rolling."
 
On Friday November 1stLMU hosts the WCC Championships at Woodley Lakes Golf Course in Van Nuys. On November 15ththe Lions take on the stacked West Region, fighting for a spot on the starting line at Nationals in Terre Haute, Indiana on November 23rd.
