SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has announced the 2018-19 Men's Golf All-Academic Team. Two Lions,
Samuel Su and
Cameron Meeks, were named to the Honorable Mention Team. Su holds a 3.67 GPA as a finance major and accounting minor, and Meeks carries a 3.29 GPA in finance.
Samuel Su finished second on the team with eight tournaments and 23 completed rounds of golf this season. He recorded three rounds at par or below, averaging 74.87 strokes per round, which is below his career average of 75.36. Su earned a top-20 finish at The Farms Invitational (Feb. 11-12, 2019), placing 16th of 68 with a 77-71-75—223. The sophomore has consistently shot between 222 and 231 in every three-round tournament this season, including a 75-73-74—222 at the WCC Men's Golf Championships.
Cameron Meeks competed in five tournaments with 14 completed rounds of golf this season, recording three rounds at par or below. The sophomore averaged 76.57 strokes per round, and earned a top-30 finish at The Farms Invitational (Feb. 11-12, 2019), placing 30th of 68 with a 81-74-72—227. Meeks has consistently shot between 226 and 232 in every three-round tournament this season.
To be eligible, student athletes must own a minimum 3.20 cumulative grade point average based on the most recently completed term at the time of the nomination, participate in at least 50 percent of the institution's completed contests, and have at least sophomore athletic and academic standing with at least one year in residence completed at the nominating institution.
