Lions Selected to play in Los Angeles Regional in NCAA Tournament

The Loyola Marymount Lions, winners of the 2019 West Coast Conference Tournament, open up play in the Los Angeles Regional, it was announced by the NCAA. This marks the first time since 2000 the Lions will play in the NCAA tournament.

The Lions (32-23) will open postseason play against the No. 2 seed in the Los Angeles Regional, Baylor (34-17) on Friday, at 1:00 p.m. PT. No. 1 UCLA (47-8) and No. 4 Omaha (31-22-1) will play in the second game at 7:00 p.m. PT on Friday. Each of the 16 NCAA Regionals features a four-team double-elimination format.

LMU's return to the postseason marks head coach Jason Gill's 10thtrip as a player or coach and first at the helm of the Lions.

The Lions earned their way into the postseason with the WCC's automatic qualifying bid over the weekend when they beat conference regular season champions BYU, followed by a pair of victories over Saint Mary's for their first championship since a string of three straight from 1998 through 2000.

LMU is 11-19 all-time in postseason play and seek a return trip to Omaha since 1986 when they played in the College World Series.

The 64-team NCAA Tournament bracket was revealed on ESPNU's hour-long selection show Monday at 9:00 a.m. PT.
