LOS ANGELES – Four Lions were recognized Wednesday morning as the Golden Coast Conference announced the league's All-GCC performers and specialty award winners.
Marialena Seletopoulou was named the conference's Newcomer of the Year. In addition, LMU landed two players on the All-GCC First Team, one on the All-GCC Second Team, and one on the All-GCC Honorable Mention team.
Leading the GCC in goals in her first season at LMU is sophomore
Marialena Seletopoulou, who earns GCC Newcomer of the Year honors. She enters the GCC tournament with 71 goals and 97 total points for the Lions, who enter as the No. 3 seed at 19-9 overall and 5-2 in league play. Seletopoulou's play also earned her a selection to the GCC Honorable Mention Team.
For the third straight season,
Hana Vilanova has been named to the All-GCC First Team. Vilanova ranks second in the conference in both points and assists, and is fourth in goals. Vilanova is an all-time Lions, ranking sixth in program history in career goals (217), eighth in assists (105), and sixth in steals (166) heading into the GCC Championships this weekend.
After earning an Honorable Mention selection as a freshman,
Sky Flores claims her first spot on the All-GCC First Team as a senior. LMU's goalkeeper has recorded a career-best 18 wins this season and is one of just two conference goalies to surpass the 200 save plateau. Her 661 career saves rank top-5 all-time in LMU history.
Morgan Molloy has been named an All-GCC performer for the first time in her career, earning Second Team recognition this season. The senior has set career-highs in both goals (57) and points (62), and ranks second in the conference in scoring.
The Lions open the GCC Championships Friday at 1:30 p.m. against sixth-seeded Cal Baptist. All tournament games are played at Fresno State Aquatics Center.
