The Loyola Marymount men's and women's track & field teams ran a limited squad at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner Kersee Invitational at UCLA on Saturday, April 13
th. For the Lions, the day started with the women's 1500 meters where freshman
Grace Catena posted a career-best time of 4:52.39 good for ninth in the event. Senior
Ann Kelly was the fastest among the Lions participants in the 1500m posting a season-best time of 4:46.50 for eighth in the event. Rounding out the top 10 in the event for the Lions was
Ashley Flores who posted a time of 5:11.90.

In the men's 1500 meters, freshman
Max Smith was the pace setter for LMU posting a season-best time of 4:00.88 good for eighth in the event. Smith wasn't the only Lion posting solid results as
Joey Rodgers time of 4:25.84 placed him 15
thand freshman
Max Himmelright's time of 4:26.68 was good for 16

The hightlight of the event for LMU, amongst all the solid run times, was senior
Solomon Demeku-Ousman's performance in the 3000 meter Steeplechase at UCLA. Competing in his first steeple of the year and his first since 2017 he won the event by the narrowest of margins. Demeku-Ousman posted a time of 9:27.40 besting the 9:27.81 time of UCLA's Munir Kabbara.
