Nineteen members of the Lions' men's and women's track & field teams competed Friday night at the 41
stAnnual Aztec Invitational hosted by San Diego State University. Both the men's and women's teams combined for nine career bests, six season bests and six athletes in the top-10 in their respective event and one event champion.

Kyla Danforth's run in the 3000 meters was the highlight of the meet as she crossed the finish line in dramatic fashion, winning the event by .01 seconds. Her career best time of 9:58.61, not only made her a champion, but also allowed her to become the 13
thfemale in school history to dip under 10 minutes for the 3000m distance. Senior
Giselle Masedo's career best time of 10:10.59 placed her fifth in the event and also put her at 18
thin LMU's history books with that top-20 all-time finish.

Raina Hines and
Grace Catena also finished in the top-10 of the 3000m while their marks also placed them among the top-20 on LMU's freshman list. Hines' career best time of 10:28.41 put her in 15
thon LMU's freshman list while Catena's season best time of 10:33.12 placed her at 20

Ann Kelly and freshman
Ashley Flores competed in the 1500 meter race for the Lions. Kelly finished with a season best time of 4:47.61 while Flores crossed the finish line at a career best time of 5:09.07.

In the men's 3000 meters, freshman
Ethan Frisone ran a career best time of 8:37.01 which put him on LMU's all-time freshman list at seventh in the 3000m. Alongside Frisone was freshman
Zach Arias who's career best time of 8:43.06 put him on all-time freshman list at 12
thfor the 3000m event as well. Adding to the list of impressive freshman accomplishments for head coach
Scott Guerrero's team was the duo of
Max Smith and
Simeon Paul. Smith crossed the finish line at a career best time of 8:47.80 putting him in 15
thplace on the all-time freshman list while Paul's personal best time of 8:52.27 placed him at 20
thon the list. Sophomore
Kyle Friedler also placed in the top-10 with a career best time of 8:41.89.Â
