19 members of the Lions men's and women's track & field teams competed Saturday at the UC Irvine Spring Break Classic, hosted by UC Irvine. Both the men's and women's teams combined for five career bests, several season bests and a couple of heat winners.

Senior
Giselle Masedo paced all Lions' women's runners in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:43.56, putting her at fourth overall in the event. Right behind Masedo was redshirt senior
Kyla Danforth who posted a time of 4:45.69 putting her fifth overall. LMU's
Ann Kelly was another Lion who finished in the top 10 with her time of 4:50.50.Â

In the second heat of the women's 1500 meters, the Lions Raina Hines time of 4:53.96 gave her the victory in the heat. Grace Catena posted a career best time of 4:54.66 for the Lions. Also posting career bests for LMU was the pair of Ashley Flores and
Gaby Guerrero with times of 5:10.75 and 5:14.52, respectively.

In the men's 1500 meters, freshman Ethan Frisone won the second heat with a career best time of 4:01.83. Another sensational freshman for head coach
Scott Guerrero's team, Weston Hart narrowly missed winning the third heat of the men's 1500 meters. Hart was edged out at the finish line by .07 seconds posting a time of 4:07.95, a career best for the freshman.Â

Simeon Paul posted a career best time of 4:12.94 in the 1500 meters and Solomon Demeku-Ousman paced all Lions' runners in the 1500 meters with a time of 3:55.87 just ahead of senior
Branden Estrada's time of 3:56.28.
The Loyola Marymount track & field team will send 28 student-athletes to San Diego on Friday to compete in the 41st Annual Aztec Invitational hosted by SDSU.
