The New York Mets invited former Loyola Marymount standout Colton Plaia to their big league camp this spring.
 
Plaia, initially drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft elected to return to LMU for his senior season and was subsequently drafted by the Mets in the 2013 Amateur Entry Draft.
 
His most recent action was with the Las Vegas 51s of the Pacific Coast League where he batted .255, with 50 hits, 33 runs, 29 RBI to go along with nine home runs.
 
As a Lion Plaia had a career batting average of .318 to go along with 138 hits, 27 doubles, 71 RBI and a slugging percentage of .449. He also won the Matt Muller Lion award his senior season in addition to be named Preseason All-WCC and College Sports Madness Preseason Second Team All-Conference in 2013. He was a first team All-WCC selection as a junior and holds the Most Caught Stealing By record at LMU with 69.
