LOS ANGELES, Calif., -- Two Loyola Marymount women's basketball players were named to the 2018-19 West Coast Conference Women's Basketball All-Academic Team, while three players were named honorable mention, announced by the conference on Wednesday.
Graduate student
Bree Alford and senior
Andee Velasco made the 10-person All-Academic Team. LMU is the only team to boast two athletes on the roster.
This is the second consecutive appearance on the 10-person team for Velasco. The entrepreneurship major has a 3.51 cumulative GPA and has set the All-Time Assists Record for LMU.
While pursing her Master's Degree in educational studies, Alford has cumulated a 3.73 GPA, all while being the team and conference leader in rebounds.
Students who had at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and were significant contributors to the team were considered for the 10-person roster.
Cierra Belvin,
Josie Buckingham and
Bianca Velasco were all named honorable mention. Belvin is a junior and is majoring in communication studies, while Buckingham is getting her Master's Degree in educational studies and Velasco is a senior majoring in entrepreneurship.
