Lions Announce 2020 Baseball Schedule

Reigning WCC Tournament Champions will play 55 games, including 23 at Page Stadium

2020 LMU Baseball Schedule

Entering his first season at the helm of the Loyola Marymount University baseball program, head coach Nathan Choate announced the 2020 schedule. The slate features 55 games, including 23 to be played at Page Stadium. The Lions, winners of the West Coast Conference Championship Tournament, will look for consecutive visits to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since they played in three-straight from the 1998 through 2000 seasons.

The Lions will open the 2020 season at home against the Pac-12 when the University of Washington visits Page Stadium for a three-game series on Valentine's Day weekend (Feb. 14-16) followed by midweek contests at UCLA (Feb. 18) and at home against Cal State Bakersfield (Feb. 19). The Lions begin the season with four of their first five games played at Page.

LMU will then play 15 of its next 18 games on the road with two three-game sets against WCC teams. The road slate begins with a three-game series at Sam Houston State (Feb. 21-23) followed by UC Davis (Feb. 28 – Mar. 1), San Jose State (Mar. 6-8), Brigham Young University (Mar. 12-14) and San Diego (Mar. 20-22).

"Opening up at home against Washington and going on the road to Sam Houston State will be great early tests for us," said Choate. "We are excited about the challenge of being on road more this season and know it will help prepare us for the WCC slate."

The Lions play a midweek game versus Cal State Northridge (Mar. 24) before hosting WCC competition for the first time at home when the University of San Francisco visits Page for a three-game series (Mar. 27-29).

LMU closes the month of March with a midweek game at Cal State Bakersfield (Mar. 31), beginning a trek of 14 of the next 18 games away from Page. The Lions play WCC three-game sets against Pacific (Apr. 3-5) and Gonzaga (Apr. 9-11) followed by midweek games at San Diego St. (Apr. 13) and UC Riverside (Apr. 14).

The Lions have a three-game home series against Portland (Apr. 17-19) in between road trips to UC Irvine (Apr. 21), Santa Clara (Apr. 24-26) and Cal State Northridge (Apr. 28) before finishing the season with their longest stretch of games at home.

LMU finishes the season with eight of their last 10 games at home beginning with a three-game stint versus Saint Mary's (May 1-3) followed by a home-and-home series against UC Santa Barbara. The Lions and UCSB start the series in Santa Barbara on May 8, then play at Page on May 10 followed by the series closer on May 11.

The Lions close out WCC play when they welcome Pepperdine to campus (May 15-17) for the final weekend series of the year, capped by Senior Day on Sunday, May 17. LMU then closes out the regular season with a midweek finale at home against UCLA (May 19).

Upon conclusion of the regular season, LMU will look to defend their WCC Championship Tournament Crown, from May 21-23 at Banner Island Ballpark in Stockton, Calif. The Lions have made an appearance in the WCC Championship Tournament in six of the last seven years.
