Complete 2019 Schedule

The Loyola Marymount Men's and Women's Track and Field teams open up the 2019 season on Saturday, February 16 on the campus of Pomona College for the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers Meet, followed by the West Coast Invitational (Quad Meet) in San Jose on February 23.

One of the standout competitors for the men's team is senior Koby Pederson, fresh off the heels of his NCAA Division I appearance at the 2018 Cross Country Championships. Pederson qualified for the NCAA's by posting a time of 29:44.1 at the West Regional Race in Sacramento which placed him as the LMU record-holder for the 10k besting Weston Strum's previous record by 46 seconds. He became LMU's first-ever male from the cross country team to qualify for the NCAA Championships.

The Lions then head into March with the Beach Opener on the campus of Long Beach State on March 2, followed by a date in Eagle Rock for the Oxy Distance Carnival Classic on March 9. The month continues for the Lions with meets in San Diego, Palo Alto and ending in Westwood on March 29-30 for the Jim Bush Legends Invitational.

Competing on the track for the women's team is standout junior Giselle Masedo, coming off an impressive cross country season where she notched a personal best 21:17.1 for the 6k course at the NCAA West Region Championships. Her performance moved her into the top-20 on the LMU all-time list in 19^th position. Alongside Masedo is junior Kyla Danforth, who is also coming off a strong cross season, which saw her place in the top-20 on the All-Time LMU list with a time of 21:19.9 at the Bronco Invitational. 

The competition then continues for the Lions in April at the UC San Diego Triton Invitational in La Jolla on Saturday, April 13 and then the Mt. Sac Relays and Bryan Clay Invitational on April 18-19, immediately followed by the Beach Invitational on April 20. Rounding out the month is a stop in Irvine for the UC Irvine Steve Scott Invitational on April 26-27.

The schedule concludes with two dates in May before the NCAA West Regionals, the first one taking place on the campus of Lewis and Clack College in Portland, Oregon on May 3 and the Oxy Invitational in Eagle Rock on May 11.

The NCAA West Regionals will be held in Sacramento May 23-25 followed by the NCAA Outdoor Championships June 5-8 in Austin, Texas.
