LMU's freshmen doubles pair of Veronica Miroshnichenko and Eva Marie Voracek have advanced into the Round of 16 at the NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Doubles Championship being held at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C.
The duo, ranked #18 in the latest ITA rankings, advanced by way of a 6-2, 4-6, 10-7 victory over Rosie Johanson/Meghan Kelley (Virginia), ranked #16 in the ITA poll, in the opening round. For Miroshnichenko, it was her third match played at the Championships after winning her first two contests in singles play to reach the Round of 16 tomorrow where she will meet eight-seed (#10 in ITA rankings) Fernanda Contreras (Vanderbilt) at 7 a.m. PT. Miroshnichenko is #48 in the ITA singles rankings.
On the doubles side, Voracek and Miroshnichenko will advance to play top-seed and #1-ranked ITA pair Paige Hourigan/Kenya Jones (Georgia Tech) on Friday at 10:30 a.m. PT.
