WCC Weekly Honors Release

The West Coast Conference has named Loyola Marymount's Eva Marie Vorcek the West Coast Conference Women's Singles Player of the Week and the Pepperdine duo of Mayar Sherif and Luisa Stefani the Women's Doubles Team of the Week.

The selection is the first in singles for Voracek, as she joins Veronica Mirshonichenko as Lions selected this year. The two players have also been lauded twice as a doubles pair this year.

Voracek earns her first career singles honor after going 2-0 last week en route to helping LMU to a pair of conference victories over Saint Mary's and Pacific. Voracek beat Saint Mary's No. 2 Hind Abdelouahid, 6-4, 6-4, on Thursday before defeating Dohee Lee of Pacific, 6-0, 6-2, to close the week. Voracek is 16-6 in singles play, including 9-2 in dual matches at No. 2 in the order. The freshman has won eight straight decisions.

Pepperdine's No. 1 doubles partnership, 30th-ranked Mayar Sherif and Luisa Stefani were solid for the fifth-ranked Waves this weekend, finishing each of their two doubles matches first to set the tone in Pepperdine's 7-0 West Coast Conference sweeps over Saint Mary's and Pacific. First against the Gaels, the duo dominated No. 39 Hind Abdelouahid and Mariia Kozyreva with a 6-1 mark.Then against the Tigers, the pair once against finished first with a strong 6-1 win over Maayan Sela and Dohee Lee. The pair has gone 8-1 in the top-spot this season.
