LA VERNE, Calif. – After three days of competition, the Loyola Marymount University women's swim team took second of eight schools with a score of 1519. The Lions trailed only Cal State East Bay following the 47-event meet.

LMU started the Invitational with a second-place finish and a time of 1:38.03 in the women's 200 yard freestyle relay behind the efforts of
Marley Abbott,
Taylor Anderson,
Abby Chopp, and
Isabel Willis. The group of four also took third in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay with a 3:35.98 finals time.

Three of the top six finishers of the 50 Yard Freestyle were Lions, all within a fraction of a second of each other.
Marley Abbott took third (24.50),
Abby Chopp finished fourth (24.65), and
Isabel Willis captured sixth (24.69).
LMU clinched a top-three finish (1:48.26) in the 200 Yard Medley Relay behind the efforts of
Taylor Anderson,
Marley Abbott,
Olivia Nielsen, and
Isabel Willis. The second LMU team of
Gabby Carufel,
Abby Chopp,
Christine Chan, and
Serena Myatt took fifth in the event with a 1:50.04 time.

Individually,
Marley Abbott placed second in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:06.05,
Isabel Willis took third in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a 1:55.36, and
Taylor Anderson finished in fourth with a 59.81 in the 100 Yard Backstroke final.

The 800 Yard Freestyle Relay featured another top-three finish for the LMU quartet of
Isabel Willis,
Lauren Akin,
Keara Reilly, and
Lanna Kozlowski. Kozlowski (17:42.09) and Akin (17:56.45) also finished back-to-back in the 1650 Yard Freestyle with a second and third place finish, respectively, and
Keara Reilly placed fifth with her 18:04.43.

Marley Abbott added another top-two finish to her resume with a 1:00:61 in the 100 Yard IM, and
Abby Chopp took third with a time of 2:06.38 in the finals of the 200 Yard Backstroke.

In the 200 Yard Butterfly,
Olivia Nielsen placed fifth (2:10.86) and
Taylor Pajunen took seventh (2:13.01).

LMU will close out the calendar year with the Masters 5K Challenge Fundraiser before opening the new year with competition in San Diego against UC San Diego and CSU Bakersfield on Jan. 5.
