With the regular season officially set to begin on February 15 at UC Santa Barbara, fans wishing to get an early look at the 2019 LMU baseball team are invited to attend a pair of 12 p.m. open exhibition scrimmages between LMU and Grand Canyon University on Saturday and Sunday from Page Stadium.
The games are free of charge, and LMU offers complimentary parking on weekends.
In addition to the fall scrimmages, fans are also encouraged to make plans to attend the 2019 Alumni Game and Seventh Annual Casino Night, as the date for both events has been set for Saturday, January 26. The location for Casino Night has yet to be determined, but that information, as well as information on how to register, will be announced at LMULions.com in the near future.
Former players, parents and fans are all invited to attend the Alumni Game. For alumni wishing to participate in or attend this year's game, please contact Director of Baseball Operations
Ryan Erickson at

LMU finished the 2018 season at 25-30 overall, including 15-12 in the WCC, to earn a share of third place in the conference standings. The Lions swept Saint Mary's in the final weekend series of the year to punch a ticket into the WCC Championship Tournament for the fourth time in the last five seasons.
LMU returns six starting position players and three starting pitchers from last season. Among the returners in the lineup are 2018 second team All-WCC selection
Nick Sogard (.324, 2 HR, 5 2B, 21 RBI, 11 SB), 2018 WCC Defensive Player of the Year
Cooper Uhl (.263, 6 2B, 16 RBI), and first baseman
Trevin Esquerra (.243, 6 HR, 15 2B, 18 RBI).
2018 All-WCC honorable mention pick
Nick Frasso and senior right-hander
Codie Paiva highlight the returners on the mound for the Lions. Paiva went 6-6 with a 4.17 ERA over 15 appearances and 12 starts, logging 86.1 innings with 65 strikeouts. Frasso compiled a 4-4 record and a 3.15 ERA over 16 appearances, including eight starts, while striking out 74 to just 17 walks as a freshman.
Grand Canyon went 33-24 last year, including 19-5 in the Western Athletic Conference to claim its second consecutive WAC title. Despite the regular-season title, and a school-record 33 wins, GCU dropped two games in the WAC Championships, and missed out on the 2018 NCAA Tournament. GCU returns the reigning WAC Player of the Year in junior outfielder Quin Cotton and another first team All-WAC pick in senior infielder Pikai Winchester.
