MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica – Following their stellar play at the 2018 Jamaica Classic, the tournament has named
James Batemon the Montego Bay Division Most Valuable Player and
Mattias Markusson to the All-Tournament Team.
Batemon provided the second half spark yet again in the program's first-ever win over Georgetown on Friday at the Jamaica Classic. Batemon scored 22 of his 27 points in the second half to complete the comeback, including posting a perfect 13-for-13 mark from the free throw line and tying his career-high with eight rebounds.In the first-ever matchup between LMU and Ohio, Batemon once again led the way with a team-high 16 points and five assists, to secure the victory.
Markusson was dominant in the paint and proved crucial down the stretch to help keep LMU undefeated. On Friday, Markusson grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds and added nine points to upend Georgetown. The center followed that performance in Sunday night's win with a 12 point, six rebound performance. He finished a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line in the Jamaica.
