LMU swimming competed against Pepperdine and San Diego in a pair of meets as part of the WCC Cup over the weekend, splitting two decisions with Pepperdine and falling to San Diego.
The Lions knocked off the Waves, 123-113, on Friday, headlined by victories by
Isabel Willis (200 freestyle) and
Abby Chopp (200 backstroke). Willis turned in a time of 1:54.96, while Chopp easily won her race in 2:10.06.
Willis would return to the water to place second in the 100 freestyle, turning in a time of 54.03, while Chopp took second in the 200 breaststroke after stopping the clock at 2:31.32.
Lauren Akin and
Keara Reilly impressed in the 1000 freestyle, finishing 2-3 in the race with times of 10:56.51 and 10:57.09, respectively.
Other individual third-place finishes for LMU included
Olivia Nielsen's 2:16.69 in the 200 butterfly,
Audrey Hixon's 2:12.55 in the 200 backstroke, and
Lanna Kozlowski's time of 5:18.63 in the 500 freestyle.
On the relay front, LMU's quartet of Chopp,
Marley Abbott, Nielsen and Willis claimed second in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:02.84.
Chopp turned in LMU's lone victory on Saturday, taking first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.14. She would return to the water to place second in the 200 backstroke in 2:10.71.
Willis managed a pair of second-place finishes in the 200 freestyle (1:56.41) and 100 freestyle (54.77), while Nielsen was third in 200 butterfly (2:15.77) and 100 butterfly (1:00.69).
The Saturday meet started well for LMU, as the Lions' 200 medley relay of
Taylor Anderson, Chopp, Nielsen and Abbott took second in 1:51.95.
LMU will return to competitive water on November 30 when it participates at the three-day SoCal College Invitational.
