Closing consecutive dual meets on Saturday, LMU swimming posted a win over Seattle University, 110-94, and dropped a decision to Grand Canyon, 133-67, in Phoenix, Ariz.
LMU opened the meet by taking third overall in the 400 medley relay, as
Audrey Hixon,
Abby Chopp,
Olivia Nielsen and
Natalie Morlock combined for a time of 4:07.30. LMU's 200 freestyle relay closed the meet by taking crucial second-place points over Seattle University, with
Isabel Willis,
Serena Myatt,
Lauren Akin and
Taylor Anderson combining for a time of 1:41.87 – a tenth of a second faster that Seattle U.
Hixon and Chopp also swam well individually, going 2-3 in the 200 backstroke, with Hixon touching the wall in 2:12.66, narrowly edging Chopp at 2:12.94.
LMU placed a pair of swimmers in the top-three of the 1000 freestyle, as Akin claimed second place with a time of 10:59.28, followed closely by teammate
Keara Reilly in third place at 11:00.90. The pair traded places in the 500 freestyle, with Reilly taking second in 5:22.55, followed by Akin at 5:24.77.
Christine Chan rounded out a 2-3-4 finish for LMU in the event, registering a time of 5:28.42.
Isabel Willis continued a stellar start to her senior year, taking home a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle, registering a mark of 1:56.66, and returning to the water to claim fourth overall in the 100 freestyle at 53.97.
Anderson, who swam the final leg of the 200 freestyle relay, also edged Seattle's Allison Plamondon for third place in the 50 freestyle, sprinting to a time of 25.47.
With action from Phoenix, Ariz. complete, LMU will now travel to San Diego for the WCC Challenge featuring San Diego and Pepperdine on Friday and Saturday.
