Competing at the two-day Malibu Invite on Friday and Saturday, LMU women's swimming opened the 2018-19 season with a 1,131-959 setback at the hands of Pepperdine.
WILLIS HIGHLIGHTS LMU PERFORMANCES
Isabel Willis turned in a strong start to her senior campaign, winning the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:56.79. She would then add a pair of second-place finishes, taking the spot in the 100 freestyle in 53.51 and the 50 freestyle at 25.47.
LIONS IMPRESS IN DISTANCE EVENTS
Lanna Kozlowski won the 1000 freestyle in 10:50.75, while
Lauren Akin followed in second at 10:59.61, and
Keara Reilly in third with a time of 11:01.86 as LMU went 1-2-3 in the event. The Lions later swam the 500 freestyle, as Reilly touched the wall in 5:20.94 to earn a second-place finish, followed shortly thereafter by Kozlowski at 5:23.73 in third.
NIELSEN & HIXON SHINE
Olivia Nielsen and
Audrey Hixon stood out in their respective events, as Nielsen took top honors in the 200 butterfly, touching the wall in 2:16.99, before winning the 100 butterfly in 1:00.75. Hixon claimed second place in both the 100 backstroke (1:02.51) and 200 backstroke (2:11.51).
