Los Angeles, Calif. - The Lions add even more height to their front line with the addition of a 6-4 center. Head coach Charity Elliott announced that Meghan Mandel, a transfer from Marquette University, will be continuing her collegiate basketball career as a Lion.

Native of Plymouth, Minnesota, Mandel will sit out the 2017-18 season due to NCAA transfer rules. She will be eligible to compete in 2018-19 and will have three years of eligibility remaining.

"We are so excited to welcome Meghan into the LMU family", said Elliott. "She is a 6'4 mobile post who can post up hard, step out for a jumper or go off the dribble. She will have this year to focus on the weight room and even more skill development and then have three years on the floor."

In her one seasons at Marquette University, Mandel saw limited action, appearing in 9 total games. She averaged 2.7 minutes per game in 2016-17, was 2-5 from the field with 11 rebound and recorded two blocks.

A 2016 graduate of Orono High School in Minnesota, she concluded her high school career tallying 10.2 points, 6.5 boards, 1.1 steals, and 2.6 blocks per outing over her over four years. She is the 5th all time scoring leader at Orono. Mandel was the No. 15 rated Center in the class of 2016 according to ESPN Hoopgurlz.

Mandel led Orono to a 30-2 record and a third place finish in the 2014-15 state tournament. She set Orono's career blocks record, and the mark for most double-doubles and most triple doubles in a season during her high school campaign. Not only did she set the single season record for double-doubles and blocks but she is the overall leader in both at Orono. Mandel was also a two- time AAU state champion in Minnesota, the team was ranked top 5 nationally.

"Not only is she a great fit on the floor, but she's a great addition to our locker room with her positivity and leadership skills", Elliott added. "We couldn't be happier to see her in crimson and navy. Meghan, in addition to our two incoming freshmen, make for another fantastic recruiting class for our program. Kudos to our staff and players!"

In November, the Lions signed 5-11 forward Jasmine Jones out of Long Beach Poly High School and 5-7 point guard Chelsey Gipson form the Palisades High School. Click here for the full release on their signings.
