Three Lions debuted in the 10,000 meters last night at the 59th Annual Mt. SAC Relays. To start the night, sophomore Koby Pederson ran an even-paced and very strong 30:43.05. His time is now sixth on the LMU all-time list. Pederson is now the only Lion in LMU history to be on the top-20 all-time list for all of the outdoor NCAA Championship-contested distance and middle distance events showing his versatility. He is fifth in the 800 meters, third in the 1,500 meters, 16th in the 5,000 meters, third in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, and now sixth in the 10,000 meters.

Next, junior Jack Polerecky put himself third on the LMU all-time list running a 30:21.00. Polerecky has now established himself as one of the top male distance runners in LMU history. In addition to being third in the 10,000 meters, he is also fifth in the 5,000 meters joining the likes of Kevin Joerger, Brandon Vientos and Tyre Johnson.

To cap off the night, senior Danielle Shanahan was the Mt SAC Relays 10,000 meter champion, coming from about five meters behind for the victory. Shanahan ran an impressive 33:45.59, which ranks her 16th in the nation in the event based on marks established coming into the weekend. Shanahan's win is the fourth of the season for the senior. Her time puts her third on the LMU all-time list for the 10,000 meters, and is now one of the top three Lions in the 1,500, 5,000 and now 10,000 meter events.

Also in the women's elite race, LMU alumna Grace Graham-Zamudio set a 24 second career best, running the 10,000 meters in 34:08.75. Tonight Hannah Wohlenberg, Kyla Danforth and Madelyn Vorgitch compete in the 5,000 meters at the Mt. SAC relays. The remainder of the squad will run at the Beach Invitational on Saturday.
