LOS ANGELES - The Loyola Marymount women's tennis team has won three consecutive matches for the first time since the 2014 season when it compiled four straight wins. After topping UC Irvine, 5-2, on Wednesday, the Lions will go for four in a row this Saturday against UC Riverside, weather permitting.

"We did really well, especially in singles," said Head Coach Agustin Moreno. "Doubles we had a little bit of trouble, but still won the point. It was hard after being away for two weeks it was difficult to get into competition mode, but now we are back."

The 2014 team, also earned wins against Cal State Northridge, UCI, and UCR in their stretch with the only different opponent being Cal State Fullerton, this year's LMU team's Sunday foe.

The Lions claimed the doubles point to begin Wednesday's match. After Jessica Perez and Elvira Juravliova finished first on court one with a 6-3 win, Camila Tumosa and Micheline Aubuchon were not able to top UCI's pair, dropping their matchup, 6-2. Anna Romeka and Siobhan Anderson battled together to get the Lions the point, topping the Anteaters, 7-5.

Again, the Lions looked very comfortable on the singles courts, despite not playing a match since January. LMU earned points on courts one through three, as well as on court five. No singles match went to a tiebreaker.

"Every team is pretty competitive in Division I tennis," said Moreno. "We just hope that it doesn't rain on Saturday."

LMU is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. against the Highlanders.
