LOS ANGELES - The 18th-ranked LMU women's water polo team fell to 12th-ranked Pacific, 9-8, at the Burns Aquatics Center Friday afternoon in Golden Coast Conference action.

The Tigers (9-14, 1-0) scored the only three goals of the fourth quarter to overcome an 8-6 deficit to earn the win. The Lions (8-16, 1-2) were led by Ivana Castro with three goals and Sky Flores in goal with 13 saves.

Karolina Hlavata led Pacific with four goals.

The teams traded goals throughout the first period before the Lions got back-to-back goals from Kingsley Hill and Caitlin Schafer to take a 5-3 to at the start of the third quarter.

The teams traded goals three more times as Castro's goal with 10 seconds to play in the third period gave LMU an 8-6 lead.

Pacific then countered with a pair of goals from Ellen Tiedemann and Hlavata. Tiedmann's second goal with 4:11 to play proved to be the game winner.

The Lions continue their home stand when they host Santa Clara on Satuday at 12 noon. The game will be live on TheW.tv.
