Beginning a string of three consecutive matches in Utah, LMU (5-5) suffered a 4-2 setback at the hands of #59 BYU (12-3) on Friday afternoon in Provo, Utah.

LMU won the doubles point by way of victories on courts two and three, with Luke Bohuslav and Jamie Thorp sealing the point with a win over Goryachkov/Carrazedo on the final court. Cristobal Rivera and Charles Boyce also won for the Lions on court two, extending their win streak to five matches.

Rivera was the lone Lion to post a singles victory, topping Jacob Sullivan, 6-2, 7-6 (5) on court three. Rivera is now 4-3 at #3 singles this year.

A trio of other Lions forced tough matches in losses, as Errol Smith, Joat Farah and Lukas Moenter dropped three-set contests. Moenter took John Pearce into a tiebreaking third set, eventually dropping the tiebreak, 7-6 (8).

LMU will return to action on Saturday when it plays at Utah State at 2 p.m.
