LOS ANGELES - The LMU softball team split a pair of games on Friday afternoon on Matador Diamond, earning a 7-1 win over Yale and dropping a 5-2 decision to CSUN as part of the CSUN Invitational.

The Lions (19-9) scored first in each game, but the lead would only hold against the Bulldogs. Meghan von Behren and Sterling Shuster each finished with four total hits on the day while von Behren also extended her on-base streak to 21 straight games.

von Behren and Alicia Brown were hot in the opener against Yale. Brown delivered a three-run home run in the first to get the Lion offense going while von Behren knocked in three total runs, including one as a two-run second inning and two more in the third as LMU built a 7-0 lead.

The Bulldogs would push one run across the plate in the seventh, breaking up Rachael Farrington's shutout. But that was all the junior lefty would allow in her 10th win of the season. She finished with three strikeouts, zero walks and just four hits allowed, including two in the final frame.

Stephanie Crist's solo home run in the top of the first against the host Matadors gave the Lions the early advantage. But CSUN (15-12) would answer with a three-run third on four hits.

LMU cut the deficit to one, 3-2, on an Amanda Dirks RBI-single in the fifth, but would manage just one base runner in the final two frames while CSUN added insurance runs in the sixth on a two-run home run.

Hannah Bandimere (9-5) took the loss in the circle, walking two and giving up six hits for five earned runs in 5.1 innings of work. Andy Wellins tossed the final 0.2 innings of the game.

LMU wraps things up at CSUN on Saturday with an 8:30 a.m. first pitch versus Idaho State. The Lions stay on the road Sunday, taking on UNLV at 9:30 a.m. and UC Riverside at noon. Both games Sunday will be contested in Riverside, Calif.
