LMU had to play catch up all afternoon, erasing 1-0 and 4-1 deficits, but never could take a lead en route to eventually dropping the final game of a four-game series to Nebraska, 5-4, on Sunday from Hawks Field at Haymarket Park in Lincoln, Neb.

The victory handed Nebraska the four-game sweep over the Lions.

The home run proved to be the weapon of choice for both squads, with each team belting a pair. Ben Miller, who went 3-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI, launched his third homer of the year in the bottom of the first for Nebraska, before Niko Decolati belted his second of the season, a solo-shot in the second, to draw the Lions back even at 1-1.

After an error from Decolati to start the bottom of the second led to an unearned run and handed the Huskers a 2-1 lead, the home team stretched the advantage to 4-1 on one swing of the bat from Scott Schreiber. The cleanup man, hitting with Jake Placzek aboard at second, connected for his sixth home run of the year to help himself to a 2-for-3 afternoon at the plate.

The 4-1 advantage held until the fifth when Austin Miller and Spencer Erdman singled to get things going with one out. Cassidy Brown wasted little time delivering the big blow, sending a 1-1 pitch over the wall in left field for a three-run homer to knot the tally at 4-4. The round-tripper was Brown's second of the season.

Just as it did in the second inning, Nebraska allowed the tying run only to reclaim the advantage in the bottom of the inning. A leadoff walk to Placzek came back to bite LMU starter Tyler Cohen, as reliever Mark Finkelnburg surrendered an RBI-double to Miller to chase home what proved to be the game-winning run.

Cohen finished the start having thrown 4.0+ innings, allowing five runs on seven hits and one walk with two strikeouts. With the loss, the right-hander fell to 1-2 on the season.

Reece Eddins, who finished the fifth inning on the hill for Nebraska in relief of starter Jake McSteen, was credited with the victory and moved to 1-1 after allowing just one hit over 1.1 innings. Chad Luensmann recorded his second save in as many games on Sunday, throwing a 1-2-3 ninth inning to seal the one-run victory and the sweep.

LMU will return to action on Tuesday when it travels to Long Beach State for a game at 6 p.m.
